Website

So my job drains most of my time and energy and leaves me little time for much else. It’s sad, I know. I barely have time to write. I’ve been a bad dog mom and haven’t taken my little (well…Monster is not so little) furries to the park or to the beach.

Bay Families with Dogs is having a picnic at Shell Island for Memorial Day weekend. It’s really cool because you start at the docks by the Shrimp Boat. It’s $25 for humans, dogs and kids are free. You get a lunch and a nice day at Shell Island. I wanted to find time to go this weekend, but my dogs have never been on a boat. I would hate for them to sick or freaked and not have a great time.

Kitson’s bday is friday. I’m not sure what I’m going to do for her yet. We had a little doggie bday party for Monster last year on his bday. But Kitson likes to control everyone and that may not go well with her Auntie Jen’s babies. I still have a few days to give it some thought.

New menu items

Has anyone seen that Walmart commerical with the clown? It’s hilarious!!

I am deathly afraid of clowns so I nearly turned the channel, until he stepped on the metal unicorn. His screaming made me laugh.

Ok…

Here’s some of the new menu items for B’s Barkery

Italian Biscuits for dogs
Brown Sugar Bacon Biscuits
Garlic & Parmesan Biscuits (I’m using very small amounts of garlic due to some dogs have reactions to garlic in high doses, but the demand for garlic treats is overwhelming.)
Yogurt & Molasses Cookies
Milk & Honey Cookies
PB & Honey Cookies

~these are only a sampling of what we’re offering~

I apologize for being slow in working on B’s Barkery, but it’s hard with a full-time job and family obligations to make time. It’s coming along. At a snails pace, but it’s coming along.

Time

It’s funny how fast time flies. It’s like one day you wake at it’s an early morning in June and then you go to sleep only to wake up and it’s many months later.

That’s how I feel.

Life has a way of putting things into focus for you.

I have a new job. I won’t say where, but I have been there since November. So far it’s been an interesting journey. I cannot say that B’s Barkery is done for because it’s not. I just have to let it sit on the sidelines for now. I still take orders, but the delivery cannot be made until I get off of work.

The B’s Barkery website is still a work in progess. It’s a little difficult with all that is going on, but I have faith that I will be able to complete it.

All the animals are doing well, though, there was a bit of separation anxiety from Cade, Kit, Hades and Thor. They are finally realizing that I leave for work every day, but will return.

That’s it for now. I will keep everyone posted on what’s going on.

Writing

Ok…so B’s Barkery has taken a backseat to many things. I’m still finishing orders, but I have a ton of stuff on my plate at the moment. I’ve been accepted by two more online writing companies and they pay much better. I have also undertaken a new project, but it is still a secret.
Our fur-babies are all doing great. Rambunctious as always, but Kit and Barricade are still learning new commands. Haden, not so much. My Mom’s dog, Lilith, is doing much better. She’s starting to calm down ever so slowly.
Kit has a fear of men. It’s serious business. She does not like men to touch her. C is the only exception. She’ll cuddle with him, but if he scolds her…she is so afraid that she pees on the floor. I often wonder about her past, but that’s a mystery that will never be solved. Kit and I often read books together. If I lay on my stomach on the bed while I’m reading a book, she’ll crawl up next to me and lie exactly like I am with her little legs out and everything. I have even caught her look at the book almost as if she’s trying to decipher what I find so captivating.

Anyway, I am still working on B’s Barkery, but it is an extremely slow process.

B’s Barkery

I have been working on B’s Barkery, but I have had life interrupt me many times. So it has taken alot longer than I wanted. I am still working on it. Really, I am. It’s just exhausting trying to accomplish everything.

Website

To my dismay, I am still working on the new designs for the website. Many things have been a factor in the slow process. There is not a single blame to be placed in one area.

I’ve created many new items for B’s Barkery, but they cannot all be placed on the menu at one time. All these fantasical goodies will be specials that are offered each week.

The Dog Beach at Panama City Beach,FL

We took a trip to the Dog Beach this past weekend.

Generally, I love the dog beach. My dogs love the dog beach. But this weekend was an exception. I do no like it when people allow their dogs to run free on the dog beach. I realize that the dog beach is for dogs, but there are certain things to take into account.

What if you allow your dog to run the dog beach area and it comes across a dog that it does not like? Do you think it will turn around and just walk away? That’s not likely.

Or if the dog it attempts to play with does not wish to play? Will that dog just go about its own business or feel the need to put your dog in its “place”?

There are many scenerios with many different outcomes. I know that people visit that part of the beach and do not wish to be bothered by dogs. Why they come to the dog beach, I don’t know. But what if your dog came to visit them and they grew angry? Or if they were afraid of certain breeds of dogs? It is a public area so they do have a right to be there. I won’t mention the fact that being leashed is one of the rules of going to the dog beach.

Needless to say, my dog did have fun. But I did not enjoy other dogs running up to him and running around us in circles. I found it very disturbing that they lacked an owner. I would never allow my dog off leash in a public area. Due to his breed, it’s not safe for him. People judge him based solely on his appearance and size, not his temperment or personality.

I wish people would be a little more considerate of other people and their pets.

Flea and Tick Season

In Florida, flea and tick season exists all year long. Products that once worked, no longer work. Fleas and ticks are growing immune to the usual products. Fleas and Ticks can be fatal to your furred love one.

Well, now pet owners have another product. New Adams Flea and Tick products have arrived. These are called “spot ons”. You use them like you would Advantage or Frontline topicals. They are available at PetSupermarket and Target stores nationwide. Check them out at

Floating Jackets

The temptation of the Gulf is undeniable in the summer for humans and canines alike. In the summer, it is a heavenly relief to feel that cool water on your hot skin. And since boating  and swimming are popular recreational pastimes in Florida, a brilliant item has been created for those canine with a love of water. The Fido Float Jackets, found at Dr. Fosters and Smith, are made of polyester and has a buoyance collar to keep your dog’s head above water. The swim vests come in noticeable colors of orange and yellow. Float Jackets have a zippered back, adjustable straps and a convenient handle to help your dog out of the water. These are great for dogs that love to swim and for a day out on the boat. They come in many sizes, but be sure to measure your dog for the appropriate fit. You can see their website at Dr. Fosters and Smith at www.DrFosterSmith.com to get more information on prices and how to measure your dog for the right fit.

Latest on pet-friendly blog

I’ve written a new post on my pet-friendly blog. It’s on the dog-friendly beach in Panama City Beach, FL. You can find it here: http://pet-friendly-in-panama-city-fl.blogspot.com/

We recently took Kit there, our Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She’s not a big fan of the rough waves and the cold water. Can’t say I blame her. I’m not too keen on cold water either. She loved seeing the other dogs though. There was a border collie there. His owners were throwing a frisbee for him. He was on-leash, but they would allow him to run alone after the frisbee. Not a big deal. He was a good dog. The border collie never went any where else. Grab the frisbee and return. Poor Kit watched the frisbee the whole time. Evidently, the frisbee got the best of her and she started after it. I, bad owner, was not paying attention the leash slipped from my hand. C went after her, but she thought she was in serious trouble and ran back to me. She’s so funny! Of all places for her to run off to and she came back to me. She’s such a good girl. I had to bake many treats afterwards to make it up to Cade and Haden since they weren’t able to go. Next time, we’ll bring Cade and Kit. Haden is a little much and isn’t always friendly with other dogs.
